Who

Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills is a Christian ministry dedicated to ending substandard housing in the Sandhills region.

What

From the Art Deco inspired invitation to the music selections and decorations, Habitat is throwing a 1920s themed gala. The Sandhills Habitat annual fundraiser will be held Saturday evening, March 7 at the Country Club of North Carolina. The Country Club offers a more intimate setting for this event, which presents a chance to escape to the decade of flappers, the Charleston, prohibition and speakeasies.

When

March 7 is the important date for our Spring Gala, Puttin' On The Ritz. Read on for more information about the evening.

The evening will start at 6:00pm with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the lower terrace of the Country Club in a fully conditioned tent. Opportunites to play the popular game "Heads or Tails" will be sold during cocktails. The winner of the game, played after dessert, will be awarded a two-night stay at The Cloister on Sea Island, GA. For a small fee, guests can get their phototaken with classic 1920s props, like strands of pearls, long cigarette holds, feather boas and gangster attire.

Following the cocktail hour, guests move inside to the main dining room for a three course dinner and a live auction. This year's auction will include an array of exciting items such as a catered dinner for 10 in your own home, floral arrangements for a year, and a getaway to a perennial favorite, Kiawah Island.

Dancing in the lower terrace will round out the evening, so make sure you strap on your dancing shoes. The Bill Bolen Band of Chapel Hill will be back with music from the original jazz era and plenty of crowd favorities. Keeping with the theme, 1920s attire is highly encouraged.
